This magnificent belt buckle is the work of legendary Native American artisan, Carlos White Eagle. Very heavy gauge sterling silver is the foundation for hand stamped and chiseled designs, applied 3 long feather, scrolls, raindrops and flowers, along with a massive slab of turquoise with a mesmerizing matrix set in a hand forged saw-tooth bezel. The stone is surrounded with a thick rope border and wavy edge work along the bottom and left side. Carlos White Eagle is a master jeweler. He began making jewelry in the early 1940s and worked with some the best silversmiths of his time. He went on to bring the best jewelry of its time to the rich and famous, from the Roosevelts to President Eisenhower to Elvis Presley and Cher. Stamped into the back of the piece are the artists hallmark “CWE” and etched in cursive Carlos White Eagle. Tested and found to be sterling with a total approximate weight of 560 grams. This museum quality buckle will be a cherished addition to your collection of the very finest vintage Native American jewelry. Condition: In very nice vintage condition with original patina. Stone is tight and secure. The turquoise is strong and intact having an amazing naturally occurring matrix throughout with some minor hairline surface cracks.
