Being offered is a vintage, Mexican artisan made jewelry necklace. The necklace was made in Mexico but has a classic Navajo Indian or southwestern Indian design and style. The necklace is crafted from sterling silver with a series of petit turquoise stone settings. The necklace is marked for being made in Mexico and of sterling silver. The necklace is in good condition and approx. During the early tourist trade to the southwest Mexican artisans began crafting jewelry for the trade to compete with Native arts and crafts. During the 1960’s, much of the Mexican jewelry looked similar if not identical to Native jewelry so items like this were required to be marked to help consumers identify if a piece was Native crafted. Although one can discern Native vs, Mexican jewelry fairly easily, this necklace is well made and similar to Native jewelry. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my items.
