PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION!! This listing is for a vintage Navajo necklace and cuff set featuring a super rare and unique thunderbird design. The two pieces were handcrafted with heavy gauge sterling silver and natural Turquoise. Price is firm and well below today’s market value. This vintage necklace and cuff set was beautifully handcrafted during the mid century and features an incredibly rare design of petite point turquoise clustered over large thunderbird pendants. The stones have light blue too blue-green color hues with natural matrixes and a polished finish. Each stone is securely set in a finely hand etched bezel, free from cracks and chips. A couple of stones appear to have hairline fractures but, under a loupe it’s only matrix. The pearls are in wonderful condition and strung on a soldered link chain with a sterling silver twist clasp at each end. The twist clasp is original to when the necklace was made. We believe this necklace may have had three strands of pearls on each side at one time. There is a section for a middle strand to be strung on all three of the thunderbirds so it could easily be added if desired. The matching cuff features an identical design of the thunderbird wrapping around a double shank of silver. The shanks are made with a heavy gauge silver making the bracelet very solid and sturdy. Heavy force would be needed to adjust the gap. The necklace/cuff has been left in its original state with a slight patina. There is no sterling mark on either piece however, both pieces have been tested and are guaranteed to be sterling. The Artist’s signature is etched on the back of the large Thunderbird and appears to be two possibly 3? Initials of MC and? . I haven’t been able to identify the signature. This is such a unique set. In the 7 years of dealing we’ve never seen one like it. It’s made with quality materials and has great balance, laying beautifully and comfortably over the chest. It’s a well executed piece from start to finish. Add this statement piece to your existing collection of Native American jewelry and wear with pride before handing it down in the future. Necklace Weight – 148 Grams. Cuff Weight – 32 Grams. Necklace Length – Due to the design of this necklace I will explain how I measured the length.. I measured the length on each side from the clasp down to where the pearls end at the large thunderbird. Each side measured 13″ therefore, the necklace has a length of 26″. Thunderbird Measurements – The large thunderbird at the center of the necklace measures just under 2-1/4″ tall by 4″ wide and the 2 side birds measure a little over 1-3/4″ tall by 3″ wide. Cuff Size – The inside of the cuff measures 5″ from end to end, plus a gap of 1-1/4″ for a total size of 6-1/4. The cuff should fit a wrist between 5-7/8″ and 6-1/8″ comfortably. The gap is slightly adjustable with heavy force. Cuff Face Measurements – At front center the face measures just over 1-3/4″ tall by 3″ wide (along the curve). Stone Measurements – All of the stones in the necklace and cuff measure about 3/16″ long, with the exception of the snake eye stone on the largest thunderbird, which measures 1/4″. Pearls/Bench Beads Measurements – The pearls have a diameter/width of just over 5/16. Stamped Sterling – NO, tested and verified. 925 sterling silver guaranteed. Signed by Artist – Yes, etched with initials MC?? For an unidentified Navajo Artist. Mid Century, 1950’s +. Condition – Preowned, in excellent vintage condition with all of its original stones and a slightly aged natural patina, ready to wear or display. I treat every item as if it were my own.
