This large and beautiful vintage Native American handmade turquoise and Sterling silver squash blossom necklace was created by a Navajo, Dine’, master craftsman. Seven Blue and Blue-Green natural cut turquoise stones (color change most likely due to age) are the highlight of this HUGE NAJA. The naja is formed from two half-round silver wires with wide silver cross tabs securing the wires and the turquoise. Extra effort went into the mounting of the top stone and the turquoise found on each of the blossoms. This effort took the form of the twisted and bent wires and the drops which frame each of the stones. There are a total of ten blossoms, which are uniquely attached to a double strand of silver handmade beads for easy flow and movement. The double strand tapers to a single strand before terminating in a handmade hook and eye. The whole is strung on silver wire.
