This bracelet is a traditional bow guard/ketoh revisited in an ESSENTIAL fashion piece… IT IS TO DIE FOR! The turquoise and sterling silver medallion are a superb representation of the Navajo Jewelry Art and Tradition… The Chavez have been making jewelry for decades and decades. Their jewelry is INIMITABLE. The medallion is a little bit over 5″ wide/high and 2 3/4″ long. It is a long ornament for the arm with the YEI BI CHEI taking you in the ceremony. It is a feast of greens, gold and tan, with a luminous blue showing up here and there. This is a true homage to the Rainbow Man with the turquoise dancing around him. A beautiful arch above him with four green turquoise. Then these gorgeous big turquoise build the foundation of the medallion. The long one is 2 1/4. The matrix makes an incredible pattern, golden caramel paint brush strokes giving the impression of a tribal painting… The two other turquoise anchor the scene, like theses big boulders at the feet of the Acoma Pueblo mesa… The medallion is a beauty, tribal and festive. The color combination – blue, green, and tan, silver – and the combination of materials – natural stone, polished sterling and brut leather- make for an OUTSTANDING piece. The leather band is IDEAL for the medallion. It is SUPPLE, SOFT with a smooth feel on the skin. It is a latigo leather with a warm feel. The leather is pliable, the color is a medium brown with some red and yellow reminding of the turquoise matrix. There is a hint of texture in the leather and, with its raw edges, it has just the necessary distressed appeal. It is the kind of leather which gives this feel of being home… The leather band is between 2 3/4″ and 5 1/4″ wide. Its individual shape is adapted to the medallion, wider in the middle… And to the wrist, tapered on the sides.. Furthermore it does not take 10 people or a fight to close it. It is ultra simple with the round “bead”. The 2 holes in the leather band are placed at 6 3/4″ and 7.5″ to fit a small wrist, around 5 3/4, and a medium wrist. Custom length leather bands can be made upon request. Because the sterling silver and turquoise medallion is a unique piece of jewelry all by itself, it CAN EASILY BE REMOVED.. For a chunky/big necklace use a S hook as a connector (I do have some available from times to times). Traditional women and intrepid men will appreciate the savy bracelet. The cuff weighs 133 grams.
