The turquoise and sterling silver medallion are a superb representation of the Navajo Jewelry Art and Tradition… The Chavez have been making jewelry for decades and decades. Their jewelry is INIMITABLE. The medallion is 4.5″ wide/high and 3″ long. It is F A B U L O U S! The mountain came to us…. A miraculous blue mountain with its natural rough edges, corners to hang on, discover and pray. And this blue turquoise rock has been wonderfully captured by the Chavez. Captured like a wild animal. With all due respect. And it is now sanctified in a statuesque medallion. The Chavez made a wide sterling silver frame around the stone, over 1/4 of beads, half rounds and minimal stamping to showcase the turquoise. And the stone is 3 3/4″ long and 2.5″ wide. It has the formidable blue sky, the soft tan matrix, the force of life. It is a brut piece of thick turquoise, the raw life. The color combination – blue brown and silver – and the combination of materials – natural stone, polished sterling and brut leather- make for an OUTSTANDING piece. The leather band is IDEAL for the medallion. It is a BISON leather bland to showcase the blue turquoise. It is ultra soft and supple. The leather is pliable and has a distressed feel with its raw edges. It has some texture with a kind of pebble impression. It has a very earthy tone, dark brown with a red terracotta undertone, and lighter edges. The band is between 2″ and 4″ wide. Its individual shape is adapted to the medallion, wider in the middle… And to the wrist, tapered on the sides.. Furthermore it does not take 10 people or a fight to close it. It is ultra simple with the round “bead”. The 2 holes in the leather band are placed at 7.5″ and 8.5″ to fit a MEDIUM wrist, larger than what the Chavez make usually. Custom measure leather bands can be made upon request. Because the sterling silver and turquoise medallion is a unique piece of jewelry all by itself, it CAN EASILY BE REMOVED.. For a chunky/big necklace use a S hook as a connector (I do have some available from times to times). Traditional women and intrepid men will appreciate the savy bracelet. The cuff weighs 180 grams.
